From @Podolyak_M:

“It is a big mistake to try to look at this war as a problem of Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Putin's Russia today has become, without a doubt, the problem of humanity - and this problem did not arise yesterday. Throughout its history, Russia has been missing out on the events that shaped the modern world order, and therefore has fallen hopelessly behind the East and West. Russia did not take part in the Thirty Years' War, "slept through" the formation of the Peace of Westphalia, and therefore does not know the concept of "sovereignty." Russia did not end as an empire as a result of World War I. Russia has not undergone repentance and transformation after the collapse of the USSR for the crimes of the Reds - yesterday's communists and imperial nationalists have put on the masks of democrats. Putin's Russia cannot find its place in the modern world, and therefore invests in undermining the world order. Instead of ideas and meanings, it has the complexes of its elites. On this path, Russia in Putin's form is doomed to failure - and we are already seeing it, although the size and scope of the country stretches the process over time and hides the pathogenesis from external observers. The task of responsible countries in all parts of the world is to let Russia crash against the rock of Ukraine and let the world move on. This includes letting the future of Russia move on without Putin. This is not a matter of politics. This is a matter of universal civilization.”

Comentário de um leitor:

“The Russia Federation was offered the opportunity to join the EU when the Soviet Union fell apart.  In 2008 Putin irreversibly changed that possibility for Russians when he decided he wanted to be President-for-Life and Russians said: "OK, you think for us!"”
