0 ViewsDuring the 1980s and 1990s, many developing countries removed regulations and restrictions on international trade and international investment flows. Most of the liberalization trend of commercial and capital accounts among the "emerging markets" countries have been explained under the lens of the “open-economy politics” approach. Alternatively, constructivist theories provide a more convincing explanation of why developing countries opened themselves up to the global economy in that period – one that goes far beyond the interplay of domestic interest groups.
