Robert De Nito sobre Donald Trump, e uma sobrinha do próprio, Mary L. Trump, sobre “um homem mau”

 Copiado, pois que relevante:

Robert De Niro's statement about Donald is perfect. Lean her:

“I’ve spent a lot of time studying bad men. I have examined their characteristics, their gestures, the utter banality of their cruelty. However, there is something different about Donald Trump.

When I look at him, I don't see a bad man. For real.

I spy an evil one.

Over the years I've met thugs here and there. This guy tries to be one, but doesn't succeed. There's such a thing as "honor among thieves".

Yes even criminals have a sense of right and wrong. If they do the right thing or it's not another story, but they have a moral code, however twisted it is.

Donald Trump is not having it. He's a potent tough guy with no morals or ethics. No sense of good and evil. He has no respect for anyone but himself, nor for the people he is supposed to lead and protect, nor for people he does business with, nor for people who follow him, blindly and loyally, not even for people who they consider themselves their "friends".

He feels contempt for all of them.

We New Yorkers have known him over the years, because he poisoned the atmosphere and filled our city with monuments to his ego. We knew first hand that he was someone who should never be considered for a leadership position.

We tried to warn the world in 2016.

The repercussions of his turbulent presidency divided America and rocked New York City beyond imaginable. Remember how the crisis shook us in early 2020, when a virus swept through the world. We live with Donald Trump's grandiocent behavior every day on the national stage and suffer to see our neighbors pile up in body bags.

The man who was supposed to protect this country put it in danger because of his recklessness and impulsiveness. It was as if an abusive father ruled the family through fear and violence. That was the consequence of ignoring the New York warning. Next time, we know it will be worse.

Let's make no mistake: Donald Trump, who has been impeached twice and prosecuted four times, is still a fool. But we can't allow our fellow Americans to discard him as such. Evil thrives in the shadow of derogatory ridicule, so we must take very seriously the danger that Donald Trump represents.

So we're releasing another warning today. From this place where Abraham Lincoln spoke, right here, in the pulsating heart of New York, to the rest of America:

This is our last chance.

Democracy will not survive the return of a sitting dictator.

And evil will not conquer if we are divided.

So what do we do about it? I know I’m preaching to the already convinced. What we are doing today is valuable, but we have to carry the present into the future, carry it outside these walls.

We need to get close to half our country that has ignored Trump's dangers and, for whatever reason, supports his rise back to the White House. They're not stupid and we shouldn't condemn them for making a stupid decision. Our future doesn't depend on us alone. It's up to them.

Approach Trump supporters with respect.

Let’s not talk about “democracy.” “Democracy” may be our holy grail, but for others it’s just a word, a concept, and in their acceptance of Trump, they’ve already turned their back on it.

Let's talk about right and wrong. Let's talk about humanity.

Let's talk about kindness. Security for our world. Safety for our families. Decency.

Let us welcome them back.

We won’t get them all, but we can get enough to end Trump’s nightmare and accomplish the mission of this “Summit to Stop Trump.”

* This statement according to a source was made in 2024 before the election in a context of warning and mobilization to prevent Donald Trump from returning to the White House.”

Mary L. Trump escreveu um livro-revelação sobre o seu tio:

“Too much and never enough: How my family created the world’s most dangerous man”.
