Trump: the great destructor of American democracy and dignity - Mykhailo Roboza

 TRUMP DESTROYED THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

How One Man Betrayed American Conservatism, Handed Democrats a Historic Victory, and Opened the Door to His Third Impeachment.

As I repeatedly warned at the very beginning of Donald Trump's second presidency, the greatest catastrophe of his rule was never simply his extraordinary greed, pathological narcissism, political ignorance, or his talent for surrounding himself with shameless opportunists.

It wasn't even his relationship with Vladimir Putin, his betrayal of Ukraine, his humiliation of America's European allies, or his transformation of American foreign policy into an endless marketplace where national interests, military assistance, international security, and the last remnants of presidential dignity are put up for sale.

It wasn't the old stories about Russian kompromat, including the notorious allegations involving prostitutes and recordings in a Moscow hotel. Nor was it merely his documented association with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender whose name became synonymous with the sexual exploitation of underage girls by wealthy and powerful men.

The Epstein scandal deserves a full investigation. Americans have every right to know who visited Epstein's properties, who benefited from his hospitality, who knew about the abuse of children, and who helped conceal those crimes. Neither presidential immunity nor billionaire status nor political connections should shield anyone from scrutiny. Association alone, however, is not proof of participation in sexual crimes.

But today I want to discuss something even bigger. A political catastrophe that will outlive Trump himself and whose consequences Americans will be dealing with for decades.

Donald Trump destroyed the Republican idea.

The very idea that helped make America great — not on cheap red baseball caps, not in hysterical speeches, and not through social media propaganda, but in the pages of world history.

The party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan has been reduced to the personal court of a vain businessman who treats the United States as an extension of his family enterprise.

A party that once defended the Constitution, free enterprise, personal responsibility, strong institutions, and American leadership became a political subsidiary of the Trump family business.

The Constitution became an inconvenience. Congress became a supporting cast. Government positions became rewards for personal loyalty. International alliances became merchandise. And the entire political program was reduced to one primitive demand: worship Donald Trump or be declared an enemy.

And on November 3, 2026, American voters delivered their verdict.

The Democrats emerged victorious, and Republicans suffered a political disaster that exposed the depth of the damage Trump had inflicted on his own party.

This was not simply another election. It was a referendum on Donald Trump himself.

And the most remarkable part is that he personally did everything necessary to bring about this defeat.

He didn't need help from Democratic strategists. He didn't need a brilliant opponent. He didn't need some sophisticated political conspiracy.

He only needed to remain himself.

Every scandal. Every threat against an ally. Every demonstration of contempt for the law. Every economic adventure. Every attempt to present his own stupidity as the greatest victory in human history.

All of it systematically destroyed confidence not only in the president but also in the party that chose to tie its future to him.

And this is where the truly frightening part begins.

Trump didn't merely destroy the Republican Party's reputation. He rescued a Democratic Party that was itself suffering from a profound crisis of public confidence.

Let's dispense with the illusions.

The Democratic Party is not a gathering of saints, geniuses, and saviors of humanity. It has more than enough hypocrisy, political conformism, ideological extremism, bureaucratic arrogance, and activists completely disconnected from ordinary life.

Its progressive wing spent years obsessing over culture wars, ideological purity, and endless arguments about symbols while millions of Americans struggled with housing costs, medical bills, crime, and grocery prices.

Parts of the academic establishment turned intellectual freedom into a competition over ideological correctness. Political activists learned to discover oppression in every sentence but failed to explain to working Americans why their lives were becoming more expensive and difficult.

Democratic social policy deserves ruthless scrutiny. So do the party's approaches to public spending, immigration, bureaucracy, and accountability.

In a healthy political system, voters should be able to punish such a party by choosing a credible conservative alternative.

But Trump destroyed that alternative.

He accomplished something that once seemed unimaginable: he pushed Americans who despise Democratic policies into voting for Democrats because they considered the Republican president an even greater danger.

That is his greatest political crime.

Not another disgraceful social media post. Not another insult. Not another international scandal.

He damaged the very mechanism of political choice.
