ANN: International Conference: 500 Years of Resistance in Latin America and the Caribbean. 50th Anniversary of the Association of Latin American and Caribbean Historians (1974-2024)

From June 5th to 9th, in Willemstad, Curacao, more than 100 of the top Latin Americanist historians from 36 countries across 3 continents will convene to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Association of Historians of Latin America and the Caribbean (ADHILAC). Under the theme "Over 500 years of resistance in Latin America and the Caribbean," the program features keynote speeches by Jane Landers (U.S.A), Verene Shepherd (Jamaica), Karin Harrasser (Austria), David Eltis (UK/Canada), Franklin Knight (Jamaica/U.S.A), Frank Moya Pons (Dominican Republic), Willem Klooster (Netherlands), Michael Zeuske (Germany), Hector Lindo Fuente (El Salvador), Alejandro de la Fuente (Cuba/U.S.A.), Sergio Guerra Vilaboy (Cuba), and Tomás Straka Medina (Venezuela).
The Conference will feature panels in Spanish, English, and Portuguese under the following subjects:
(1) Indigenous resistance
(2) Afro-Caribbean resistance
(3) Rebellions and marrons
(4) Revolutions
(5) Abolitions
(6) Social and cultural resistance
(7) Struggles of independence
(8) Revolutionary and anti-imperialist resistance
(9) Biopolitics and environmental resistance
(10) Women and gender in resistance
Registration remains open for both in-person and online participants until June 1st. You should fill out the attached form and send it to the email address: secejecutivo@adhilac.org. Registration will be confirmed upon receipt of the registration fee payment.
