Ukraine drones wipe out over 900 Russian soldiers in brutal 48 hours of carnage
The elite Russian 76th Guards Air Assault Division reportedly suffered the heaviest losses as they attempted to advance on Pokrovsk. Ukrainian drone units have inflicted enormous losses on Russian troops within the last 48 hours. Most of the casualties occurred in the Donetsk region, where fierce fighting continues around Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad.
Drone operators from Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS) killed 976 Russians in just two days, the equivalent of two infantry battalions. Robert “Madyar” Brovdi - the SBS commander - said 471 Russian infantrymen were hit on December 10, with another 505 the next day. The elite Russian 76th Guards Air Assault Division reportedly suffered the heaviest losses as they attempted to advance on Pokrovsk. Mechanised columns belonging to the elite unit tried to exploit poor weather conditions to approach the besieged city from the south on Wednesday.
However, they met stiff resistance and came under fierce bombardment by drones, which destroyed much of the equipment, as well as the troops.
In a post to his Telegram channel, Brovdi wrote: "The main reserve of worms has been thrown to Donbas, the one that was supposed to seize Zaporizhzhia - the entire 76th division, an elite airborne assault unit. That's what we're wiping out now. We're wiping them out with an unconditional speed violation: one day = one worm battalion."
He added that SBS data showed an average of 282 Russian soldiers were hit per day in November, rising to 395 per day during the first 11 days of December. The commander said the elimination of Russian manpower is now a priority task for Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
